Finance Minister Sitharaman introduced the Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill 2026 in the Lok Sabha, and the House approved sending it to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for scrutiny. The bill amends the Companies Act 2013 and the LLP Act 2008 to decriminalise minor offences, replace criminal penalties with civil ones, and reduce compliance burden for startups and small firms.
